During intensified military actions, thousands of Palestinian inhabitants are continuing to leave urban centers following Israel’s declaration of a significant assault.

Medical Facility Struck as Bombing Intensifies

During the night, Gaza’s local health ministry claimed that al-Ranitisi medical center was hit in multiple separate incidents, compelling half of its patients and their families to flee.

The Israeli army mentioned it was investigating the reports. Prior to this, it announced it had hit more than 150 labeled "militant sites" in the city over two days.

Israel’s Stated Goal

Israel claims its purpose is to eliminate as many as 3,000 militant fighters in what it describes as the group’s "final holdout" and to secure the release of its captives.

But, the operation has received extensive global criticism.

Humanitarian Groups Call for Action

Leaders of more than 20 aid agencies have appealed to global officials to intervene, stating "the inhumanity of the situation in Gaza is unconscionable" and requesting "immediate intervention".

Mass Displacement In Progress

Recently, large groups of Palestinians have streamed southwards from the city using donkey carts, bicycles, trucks piled high with items, and on foot.

Previously, they have been forced to travel via a sole route to an declared "safe zone" in a coastal region.

But on Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces announced that it would open a new path to leave, down the main Salah al-Din road. It said the path would be accessible for 48 hours from midday local time.

Skyrocketing Expenses Hinder Evacuation

A significant number of residents say they are unable to move south due to the growing costs linked to the journey. Some mention that hiring a transport now is priced at around 3,000 shekels, while a shelter for five people costs about 4,000 shekels.

A young mother of children from an area shared: "I had to sell my possessions to afford the cost of evacuation and a tent."

She noted: "The journey lasted many hours to reach another area, and we offered over $1,000 for the journey. The line of transports seemed continuous."

Inadequate Humanitarian Zones

Relief agencies, UN organizations and others report the "safe zone" people are instructed to move to is severely congested and inadequate to support the roughly two million residents who are likely to cram into it.

Some evacuees who obeyed the army’s orders to move to the area report they discovered no space to set up their shelters and so went back to northern areas.

Displacement Numbers

Israeli forces reported on a recent day that around a significant number residents had fled the city, while the United Nations estimated the number at fewer since August. Figures show at least 650 thousand are still.

Military Operations

In its actions, the military is reportedly deploying aged military vehicles outfitted with bombs that have been adapted to be operated from a distance.

These vehicles are being guided to Hamas positions and set off, according to Israeli news outlets.

Captive Relatives Protest

At the same time, loved ones of the 48 still held captives held by Hamas – 20 of whom are assumed to be surviving – gathered near Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office in the city on Tuesday and Wednesday, stating that the operation would threaten their loved ones.

{"Repeatedly, you boast about deaths and devastation," said a relative of hostages. "Bringing down properties in Gaza – on whom are you dropping these structures down on?"

{"Might it be that you are bringing these buildings down at this moment on our loved ones – the living and the deceased?"

International Condemnation

The offensive has drawn broad international disapproval, with UN human rights chief labeling it as "completely and absolutely wrong" and UK top diplomat describing it as "utterly irresponsible and horrifying".

Yet, US Secretary of State seemed to give indirect approval for the actions during a public statement.

He said the US preferred a peaceful end to the hostilities, but that "at times when you're confronting a group of savages like Hamas, that's not an option".

United Nations Investigation

This coincided with a United Nations investigative body determined that Israeli forces had perpetrated severe crimes against the population in Gaza.

Included in its findings were that Israel’s military perpetrated sexual and sexual violence, intentionally aimed at children aiming to harm them, and carried out a "systemic and extensive assault" on educational locations in Gaza.

The foreign ministry responded it completely disputed the findings, labeling it as "distorted and incorrect".
